15. Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations
UK households dispose of 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste every year. This is equivalent to 150,000 double decker buses and could fill Wembley Stadium 6 times over.
To remind you to recycle, all new electrical products are marked with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol. Please note that products bearing this symbol should not be disposed of as municipal waste and need to be kept separate from other waste to avoid potential harmful effects on the environment and human health as the result of harmful substances in Waste Electrical and Electronic equipment (WEEE).
The UK WEEE regulations require that businesses involved in the supply of electrical equipment take an active role in its collection and recycling. So that you can get your old electrical products recycled, Tinc have made provision to take back any old electrical items in your local store when or after you buy a replacement from us. From there they will be returned to our Head Office address and disposed of responsibly.
Please note that we reserve the right to refuse acceptance of any item that may constitute a health and Safety risk to our employees. Also please note that Tinc does not make arrangements for collection of WEEE; if you may struggle to get to a store you can find your nearest recycling centre and helpful tips on recycling at www.recycle-more.co.uk or you can email us at info@tinc.uk.com and we’ll see what we can do to help.
